ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role involves working in a Level III Trauma Center’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with the requirement to float to Medical/Surgical units as necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with complex medical conditions including, but not limited to, substance abuse, severe psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleeding, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock.
• Monitor patient status and vital signs, and conduct ongoing assessments of patient needs and responses to treatment.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring proper documentation in the EMR system.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips and respond appropriately to any changes in patient condition.
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families during critical and intensive care.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of continuous experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) required.
• Active registered nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Strong competence in telemetry reading.
• Ability to float to Medical/Surgical units, caring for a patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other areas.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, nights, and every other weekend.

Additional Information:

• The ICU comprises 20 beds, with attendings and residents available 24 hours a day.
• Charting and documentation are performed using the EPIC electronic medical record system.
• On-site parking is provided at no cost.
