ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This position requires strong clinical skills, particularly in reading telemetry strips, and the ability to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Description

The position is within a 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) offering care for a diverse range of adult patients with various complex conditions such as:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours a day to support patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill adults in a high-acuity unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including telemetry readings.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and execute patient care plans.
• Float to Medical/Surgical units as needed, caring for 4 to 5 patients when floated.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience required.
• Active Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Ability to read telemetry strips is mandatory.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), particularly EPIC, is preferred.

Work Schedule

The position offers flexible scheduling options, including 36 or 48-hour work weeks, with rotating shifts. Night shifts are required, and all shifts may involve floating to other units as needed.

• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity patients; 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to Med/Surg areas.
