ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to a diverse adult patient population in a dynamic 20-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). This role requires expertise in critical care and the ability to manage a range of complex medical situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including those with severe psychiatric conditions, substance abuse, and various acute medical emergencies.
• Monitor patients’ clinical status and interpret telemetry strips with proficiency.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including attendings and residents available 24 hours a day, to improve patient outcomes.
• Assist in procedures and interventions as required for high-acuity patients.
• Participate in the floating requirement to medical/surgical units, ensuring effective management of patient assignments.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• 2 years of continuous adult ICU experience, preferably in a Medical/Surgical ICU setting.
• Telemetry competency with the ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Work Environment

This position offers free on-site parking. The RN to patient ratio is typically 1:2 or 1:1 for high-acuity cases, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floating to other medical/surgical areas. Shifts may vary, with rotating day positions and designated night shifts.

• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleeding
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock
