Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery to provide exceptional care during the perinatal period. This role involves utilizing critical thinking and independent judgment to ensure the comfort and well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide professional nursing care through the complete nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Supervise and direct a nursing patient care team, which may include CNAs, LPNs, and other healthcare technicians.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and other healthcare disciplines to deliver comprehensive care.
• Document patient care activities, including patient condition, reactions, and responses to treatments in a timely manner.
• Track and report on patient progress according to established protocols.

Job Specifications:

• Full-time role with a 36-hour guarantee.
• Rotating weekend and holiday requirements with potential on-call duties.
• Work in a Birth Center that includes 11 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms, 3 triage rooms, and 1 operating room.
• Maintain RN to patient ratios of 1:1 for active labor, magnesium sulfate, and Pitocin induction; 1:3 couplet care; and 1:2 for early labor patients.
• Utilize the Cerner electronic medical record system.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of current experience in a Birthing Center setting.
• Proven experience with laboring patients, delivery (including newborn care), and postpartum care for mothers and infants.
• Preferred prior travel nursing experience.
• NRP certification preferred; must be willing to obtain if not currently certified.
• Active Michigan nursing license required at the time of assignment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Certifications:

• Active NRP certification.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
