Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The position involves providing care for high-risk and low-risk ante-partum and intra-partum pregnant women, as well as immediate postpartum care and stabilization of normal newborns, focusing on couplet care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for high-risk and low-risk ante-partum and intra-partum patients.
• Administer immediate postpartum care for mothers and stabilization for normal newborns.
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:1 for high-risk and normally 1:2 for other patients.
• Follow AWHONN guidelines for labor and delivery practices.
• Perform necessary skills including IUPC, FSE, IV starts, and circulating in C-sections.

Support and Resources

• CNA support is not available; however, OB Techs will assist with vaginal delivery recoveries.
• 24/7 Receptionist and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) support available.
• Charge nurse available around the clock for resource and support.
• Registered Nurses will draw blood, with lab services available as required.
• Access to Respiratory Therapy, with NICU support present.

Technology and Equipment

• Use of EMR: EPIC.
• IV pumps: Baxter.
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis.
• Fetal monitoring systems: GE/Centricity, Phillips EFM/telemetry systems.

Orientation and Scheduling

• Orientation typically lasts 2-3 shifts, based on the RN’s competency and comfort level.
• Weekend rotation expectations: Every other weekend.
• One major holiday is to be expected.
• Shift times include 1900-0730 and 0700-1930.
• Schedule cycle runs from Sunday to Saturday.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a labor and delivery setting required.
• Open to first-time travelers.
• Required licensure and certifications: BLS, NRP, EFM, and CST for surgical scrub.

Additional Information

• Floating to postpartum and NICU for Level 2 newborns may be required.
• Scrub colors are dark blue and provided by the facility.
• Parking is available in designated free areas.
