Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible for providing speech, language, and dysphagia services to patients, encompassing evaluations, planning individualized patient care programs, treatments, and home programs.

Essential Functions

• Utilizes an outward mindset and demonstrates exceptional effort to achieve personal and team goals.
• Conducts patient evaluations and administers treatments for speech language and swallowing disorders.
• Designs and modifies plans of care and treatment goals according to patient needs.
• Produces written and verbal reports for physicians regarding patient progress.
• Completes documentation consistent with unit standards and regulatory requirements.
• Engages in in-service education programs to stay updated on current trends in speech and swallowing disorders.
• Participates in interdisciplinary activities such as patient care committees, case conferences, and community education projects.
• Attends and contributes to staff meetings.

Responsibilities

This position will provide inpatient services, including bedside swallow studies, diet recommendations, and monitoring, as well as outpatient evaluations and interventions for speech therapy, specifically focusing on the adult population.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of pediatric SLP experience.
• Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
• Experience with Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS).
• Willingness to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required.
• Must possess a current Michigan SLP license.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Work Environment

The schedule consists of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7 AM to 5:30 PM, with Thursdays off. There are no weekend requirements; however, on-call duties may be required on a rotating basis for inpatient services, typically once a month.

Dress Code

Business casual or matching scrubs is expected.

Candidates must be able to work independently and hit the ground running in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
