Registered Nurse (RN) – Orthopedic Surgery

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join an Orthopedic Surgery unit. This position requires expertise in managing orthopedic patients with the ability to float to Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Orthopedic Surgery unit
• Manage patient assessments, care plans, and administer treatments for orthopedic conditions
• Support and educate patients and their families about orthopedic procedures and care
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses
• Conduct EKG exams and ensure proper patient monitoring
• Float to Med/Surg and Telemetry units based on needs and skills

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid RN license in the state of Tennessee or have a multi-state license
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in Orthopedics, Med/Surg, or Telemetry
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience is essential
• Previous charge experience is preferred
• Experience in teaching and community hospitals is favored
• Proficient in IV therapy and related skills, with experience in managing ports, PICC lines, and feeding tubes preferred

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 3×12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• Floating to other units as needed

Patient Demographics

The unit primarily serves adults and geriatric patients, with a daily census of approximately 15-20 patients in a 30-bed unit.

Interdisciplinary Support

Team members will collaborate with various support services, including IV Therapy, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy.
