Surgical Technologist – General

Job Overview

The Surgical Technologist will perform a variety of surgical and operating room duties to assist the surgeon and healthcare team in providing effective surgical care. This role requires expertise in a busy acute care environment with a focus on orthopedics, ENT, plastics, general surgery, and trauma procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgical teams by preparing and maintaining the operating room.
• Ensure the availability of necessary instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Perform surgical duties according to established policies and procedures.
• Provide support for a variety of surgical specialties, including orthopedics, ENT, and trauma.
• Participate in patient safety protocols and infection control procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in general surgery, including ENT, orthopedic, and neuro procedures.
• Experience in a large hospital environment, particularly with level 1 trauma.
• Working knowledge of surgical systems such as Zimmer, Depuy, Biomet, and Striker total replacements.
• Must hold a current BLS Certification (AHA).
• Must be registered on the Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Registry.

Shift & Schedule

This position requires 10-hour shifts. There may be a need to stay late as needed, and on-call duties may occur 1 to 2 days per week and every 3 to 4 weeks. Flexibility to cover cases outside of general surgery on call or off shifts is essential.

Additional Information

• Experience in a facility with more than 15 operating rooms is preferred.
• The average workload includes 75 to 100 cases per day in a facility with 25 OR suites.
• Clinicians may be required to float to other facilities within the region.
