Job Description

The Registered Nurse will work in a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH) ICU/PCU setting during night shifts. The RN must be experienced in all areas of patient care and be willing to float to Medical-Surgical Unit (MSU) as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and address patients’ and their significant others’ needs for education, employing appropriate modalities.
• Ensure patient safety through preventive measures, including the use of side rails, restraints, and proper equipment operation.
• Document all aspects of patient care, including status, nursing interventions, and responses during assigned shifts.
• Accurately maintain documentation related to charges and ensure timely completion of physician orders.
• Conduct thorough handovers during shift changes, providing detailed reports to incoming staff.
• Communicate effectively with other departments and report critical lab values to physicians in accordance with established policies.
• Implement infection control and isolation procedures, adhering to standard precautions and documentation requirements.
• Maintain and restock emergency carts and general supplies in assigned areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the unit’s operational needs.
