Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown Unit

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in a Stepdown Unit. The RN will provide high-quality care to patients with cardiac medical and surgical conditions, as well as those requiring telemetry monitoring following procedures or surgery.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered nursing care in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
• Monitor and assess patient vital signs and conditions, responding appropriately to changes in status.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) therapies, including titrating various infusions.
• Provide comprehensive care for post-procedural patients, including those recovering from catheterizations and cardiac surgeries.
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery processes.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 29
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4 on days until 2300; 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
• Common Diagnoses: Includes cardiac medical, surgical, arrhythmias, chest pain, CHF, and post-operative care for CABG and valve replacements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience in a busy hospital environment required.
• Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients, cardiac surgery, and managing TR band compression devices is essential.
• Must be proficient in titrating IV drips, such as Nitroglycerin, Heparin, and Amiodarone.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required.

Shift and Scheduling

• 12-hour night shifts, with every other weekend and holiday required.
• Flexibility to work 36 hours per week is also available.
• No self-scheduling; scheduling is based on unit needs.

Additional Information

• Telemetry monitoring is managed via a central telemetry unit, and RNs are not required to read their own strips.
• Respiratory Therapy support is available 24/7 for necessary interventions.
• Orientation includes one shift of HR onboarding and one shift of unit-specific training.
