Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele (ACE Unit – Acute Care for the Elderly)

Position Overview

The Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with a focus on medical-surgical and telemetry care. This role involves providing specialized care for hospitalized patients aged 65 and older, with a commitment to enhancing both cognitive and physical function.

Scheduling Details

• Shift Hours: Night shift, 3×12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Off Policy: Facility may cancel 1 shift per 2 weeks
• First-Time Travelers Accepted: Yes
• Local Candidates Accepted: Yes, with radius criteria

Charting Requirements

• Experience: 1 year of EPIC charting experience required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Required Clinical Skills

• Experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry settings
• Proficient in IV starts and blood product administration
• Central, peripheral, and PICC line management
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Remote telemetry monitoring
• Heparin protocols and telemetry-capable care
• Strong skills in geriatric-focused care

Unit and Patient Population Details

The ACE unit features 26 beds dedicated to patients aged 65 and older, emphasizing mobility, recovery, and reducing length of stay. The nursing staff is complemented by specially trained Geriatric Resource Nurses.

Patient Ratios: 1:5

Floating Policy

While efforts will be made to keep staff within their primary unit, agency nurses may be required to float to other units or regions as needed, based on qualifications and documented competencies.
