CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CVICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This role requires providing exceptional care to patients in the Cardiac Vascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), focusing on immediate post-operative care following cardiac surgeries.

Job Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3×12 hours (Day Shift: 07:30 – 20:00)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Required as scheduled
• Floating: Required within specialty, including IMC, and lower acuity units as needed

Patient Demographics

• Age Range: Adult/Geriatric
• Average Daily Census: 6
• Number of Beds: 8
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 in CVICU/CCRU; 1:3 if floated to IMC

Patient Diagnoses

• Cardiac Surgery: CABG, valve replacements, CABG/valve combinations
• Cardiac Conditions: CAD, STEMI, NSTEMI, AFIB with RVR, cardiogenic shock
• Vascular Procedures: Peripheral bypasses, EVAR
• Thoracic Procedures: VATS

Unit Responsibilities

• Immediate post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients
• Ventilator management in coordination with respiratory therapy
• Utilization of advanced monitoring and management devices such as Flo Trac, CRRT, IABP, and Impella
• Management of groin/radial artery access post-procedures (fem stop, TR bands)

Qualifications

• Current RN state license
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience required; first-time travelers with extensive CVICU/open heart experience (2+ years) will be considered
