Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting and preparing blood samples for laboratory testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and assisting medical technologists and pathologists in conducting designated laboratory tests.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize skin puncture and venipuncture techniques to obtain blood samples.
• Follow established protocols for sample collection, including verifying patient information, labeling specimen vials, and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Dispose of contaminated needles and biohazard materials in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
• Enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into the appropriate laboratory information systems.
• Process specimens following defined guidelines and quality control standards.
• Organize and maintain blood-drawing trays, ensuring that all instruments are sterile and single-use.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to infection control and hazardous waste policies.
• Assist with other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Current ASCP certification.
• BLS certification from AHA or the Red Cross.
• Willingness to work weekends as required.
• Travel between locations preferred.
