Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients in an inpatient surgical unit. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in medical-surgical nursing and essential certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care in an inpatient surgical setting.
- Monitor patient status and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Facilitate patient education and support discharge planning.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff as required.
- Remain flexible with changing assignments during shifts as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience with at least 1 travel assignment.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule
This position involves a 12-hour night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM, with a guaranteed 48 hours per week. The work schedule includes every other weekend and rotation of holiday shifts with permanent staff members.
Additional Information
- Patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 1:6.
- Nursing staff may float to various departments including Ortho, Neuro, Oncology, and Acute Care.
- Support services such as Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy are available 24/7 on-site.
- Uniforms are colored Caribbean Blue for nursing staff.
- CNA support is available with a typical ratio of 1:8 or 1:10.
