Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position is situated within a locked incarcerated unit, requiring a Registered Nurse who is comfortable working with the prison population. The role involves floating to other medical-surgical/telemetry units, including forensics, inpatient units, and potentially ICU.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a secure environment.
• Float between various medical-surgical and telemetry units as needed.
• Participate in holiday rotation and be available to work during peak holiday periods.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIH Stroke Scale, and CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) accepted in lieu of CPI.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers.

Shift Details

Night shift, 3×12 hours (19:00 – 07:00).

Holiday Coverage

Contract nurses are expected to work during specified holidays, including:

• Thanksgiving
• Black Friday
• Christmas Eve
• Christmas Day
• New Year’s Eve
• New Year’s Day

Nurses will be scheduled to work 3 out of these 6 holidays based on their assigned holiday group, with the opportunity to arrange schedule swaps with peers when possible.

Contract Duration

All contracts starting in September should extend into the new year to provide adequate holiday coverage.
