Respiratory Therapist

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Adult Critical Care settings. This role requires proficient clinical skills and the ability to work effectively in a vital healthcare environment.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 3×12 hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; may vary based on operational needs

Essential Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures to adult patients, including but not limited to, extubation and airway placements.
• Perform pulmonary hygiene, suctioning, and sputum specimen collection.
• Provide tracheostomy care and manage high flow nasal cannula and trach collar oxygen therapy.
• Experience with BiPAP and CPAP, including troubleshooting high pressure alarms and weaning patients from mechanical ventilation.
• Deliver aerosol therapy using various methods including Medihaler and Metered Dose Inhalers.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document care in the electronic health record (EPIC).
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required.
• Experience in administering a range of respiratory medications, including albuterol, Atrovent, and Flovent.
• Demonstrated ability to float to different units or locations as necessary, based on competencies.
• Trauma Level 1 experience is mandatory.

Patient Population

This position focuses on providing care to adult and geriatric patients, ensuring that all therapy is tailored to meet their specific needs.

Additional Information

Requests for time off, block scheduling, and special scheduling must be submitted in advance and will only be considered with approval before booking. The facility retains the right to call off one shift per two weeks.
