Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care

General Comments

Seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide care for high-acuity ICU patients, including those who are intubated, sedated, and requiring chest tube management and continuous critical care monitoring. Temporary to permanent placement is available based on departmental openings at the end of the contract.

Shift Information

This position requires working night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in this role will practice independently within a critical care environment, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. Responsibilities include providing both routine and complex care, managing long-range goals, and coping with contingencies commonly found in clinical nursing. The RN will also make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to effectively manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care according to the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families in accordance with nursing practice standards.
• Administer medications and treatments following appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA only).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required (AHA only).
• Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact license is mandatory.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a night shift schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM.
