Multi-Modality Technologist

Job Description

A multi-modality technologist is responsible for providing high-quality imaging and patient care within the fields of X-ray and Computed Tomography (CT). This role involves effectively communicating procedures to patients and ensuring clarity and understanding of the processes being undertaken.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality imaging and facilitate patient care in both X-ray and CT modalities.
• Explain procedures to patients, ensuring they are well-informed and competent regarding the processes being performed.
• Produce images for interpretation as requested by licensed practitioners.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to enhance patient care and imaging quality.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices in radiation protection.

Shift Information

This position requires a 3×12 hour shift schedule, specifically from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with the expectation of working every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 2 years is required. First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred.
• Certifications: Candidates must be registered in both Radiography (ARRT) (R) and Computed Tomography (ARRT) (C). Additional certifications like SCRQSA, BLS, and ACLS are also required (pending certifications are acceptable if obtained within 2-3 weeks of hire).
• Preferred Experience: Background in emergency, trauma, pediatrics, and orthopedic exams across both modalities is highly preferred. Familiarity with Siemens equipment, EPIC, and PACS is also advantageous.
• Radiation Badge: The agency must provide radiation badges, as they are not provided for travelers.

Additional Information

• Radius rule: Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius.
• Local candidates may be accepted on a case-by-case basis at a rate lower than the posted rate.
• All Requests for Time Off (RTO) should be included at the time of submission and may be subject to approval based on unit needs.
• The facility allows for one shift cancellation every two weeks.

Working Environment

This position is in a teaching facility with a Magnet designation and Level 1 Trauma status, equipped with a total of 865 staffed beds. The standard scrub color is teal blue tops with black bottoms, and charting is conducted through Epic. Note that a one-time payment of $20 is required for parking during nights and weekends.

Hurricane Season Notice

During hurricane season, from June to November, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Candidates should be mindful of this possibility when considering new or extended assignments during this period.
