L&D Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

The unit consists of:

• 11 total beds for labor and postpartum patients
• 1 operating room suite designated for C-sections
• 1 triage bed
• Approximately 320 births per year

Job Responsibilities

As an L&D Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

• Providing care for vaginal births, C-sections, and inductions
• Working in a special care nursery when needed
• Administering epidurals and titrating IV medications to induce labor
• Participating in unit orientation for new clinicians
• Floating to other units when required as a support staff

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

• Current certifications: BLS, NRP
• Experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
• Ability to recover patients after C-sections, unless under general anesthesia
• Familiarity with AWHONN guidelines for nurse-patient ratios

Additional Information

Shifts and scheduling details include:

• 12-hour shifts with a need for evening schedules
• Self-scheduling options are available
• Weekend requirements are every third weekend
• Holiday requirements are every other holiday

There is no call requirement, and agency staff will not take on charge nurse duties.

Equipment and Support

The following support is available on the unit:

• OB specialist on-call 24/7
• Anesthesia available around the clock
• Respiratory Therapy assistance for special care nursery patients
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring systems utilized include Novii and GE

Dress Code

Staff are required to wear hospital-supplied scrubs during their shift.

All clinicians must effectively clock in and out while at the facility.
