Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our team. This position involves providing comprehensive patient care in a 32-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg unit, catering to both scheduled elective orthopedic and neuro/surgical patients, as well as overflow medical patients.

Unit Information

• 32 total beds: 16 in Phippen 6 and 16 in Phippen 7.
• Patient-to-nurse ratio: Day and evening shifts are 1:4, which may increase to 1:5; night shift is 1:5 or 1:6.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform neuro assessments and provide telemetry monitoring.
• Interpret telemetry strips accurately.
• Float to applicable units when requested based on staffing needs.
• Participate in rotating shifts for day rotators, potential shift times include 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM, or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in one location.
• At least 2 years of experience as a traveler in a similar role.
• Current Massachusetts RN License.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Med/Surg nursing with strong neuro assessment skills.

Charting System

Experience with the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system is preferred.
