Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position encompasses rotating shifts across days, evenings, and nights, with a commitment to working 36 hours per week and floating to applicable units as needed.

Unit Overview

The unit consists of 32 beds specializing in orthopedic and neurological medical/surgical care. This includes the admission of elective orthopedic surgeries, trauma fractures, neuro patients, and other medical overflow cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population.
• Conduct neuro assessments and perform telemetry monitoring, including the ability to interpret telemetry strips.
• Maintain a favorable clinician-to-patient ratio, ensuring high-quality care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Adhere to established protocols and best practices to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
• Assist in the floating process to various units as patient needs arise.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar role, with a preference for candidates with travel experience.
• Proficient in performing neuro assessments and telemetry competency.
• Possess a current active RN license in Massachusetts.
• Hold current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.

Shift Details

Shifts may rotate between day (7am-7pm, 11am-11pm) and night (7pm-7am) schedules. Night positions do not rotate. Day and evening shifts typically maintain a clinician-to-patient ratio of 1:4, which may increase to 5 patients, while night shifts have ratios of 1:5 or higher.

Charting System

Familiarity with the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system is required for efficient documentation and coordination of patient care.
