Radiology Technologist

Position Summary

The Radiology Technologist plays a vital role in the healthcare team by preparing patients for diagnostic examinations, explaining procedures, and performing diagnostic imaging as ordered by physicians.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office is preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with radiologic equipment, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues and perform simple repairs.
• License/Certification/Registration:
  • Registered with the ARRT in Radiology.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, with renewal every two years.

Essential Functions

• Perform patient care and technical duties accurately and promptly while providing a welcoming environment for patients.
• Review and evaluate requests to ensure appropriate exams are conducted.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers: Name and Date of Birth.
• Explain procedures to patients in a clear and understandable manner.
• Schedule and coordinate with medical staff for exams as required.
• Prepare and position patients for imaging examinations.
• Utilize proper techniques for patient positioning and securing correct views for examinations.
• Operate CR, Fluoro, and DR rooms in a safe and efficient manner.
• Manage image transfer, document management, and PACS operations appropriately.
• Assist Radiologists and/or Fluoro Techs during examinations and procedures.
• Implement proper sterile techniques within the operating room and during related examinations.
• Prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media as needed, and document any adverse reactions appropriately.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with safety practices.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Conduct clerical duties and ensure quality assurance as needed.
• Support the training and orientation of radiology students as directed.

Non-Essential Functions

• Perform related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Holiday coverage may be required. The position includes day shifts on weekdays and evening shifts every third weekend.
