Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Critical Care

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiac Critical Care team. This role requires expertise in cardiac nursing, particularly with post-operative care for patients following cardiothoracic surgery.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse in this role practices independently within a critical care environment, demonstrating an awareness of clinical situations and providing both routine and complex care. The RN continuously develops skills in managing clinical contingencies while working towards long-term patient care goals.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of competencies related to self-leadership and team collaboration.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address the complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and the care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred; however, new graduates are welcome to apply.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Texas or compact state.

Position Requirements

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend the New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member and must complete competency validations.
• Annual competency verification requirements must be completed as scheduled.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
