Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our team. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, managing a wide range of critical situations and emergency care scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients in the Emergency Department, including triage, assessment, and treatment.
• Manage patients with various conditions, including trauma, pediatrics, sepsis, STEMI, and stroke.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses, including common drips such as vasopressors and anti-arrhythmics.
• Perform procedural sedation and execute resuscitations during code blues.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians and mid-level providers, to ensure optimal patient care.
• Assist with the transport of patients for imaging and other procedures as needed.
• Utilize critical thinking in evaluating patient conditions and responding to emergencies.
• Participate in departmental and hospital initiatives aimed at improving patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Active ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC certifications required.
• Must have experience in trauma care and emergency services.
• Ability to work in high-pressure environments and handle multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong assessment and communication skills are essential.

Unit Information

• Level 4 Trauma Center with capabilities for thrombolytic therapy for both STEMI and stroke.
• 12-bed Emergency Department with an additional 12-bed Urgent Care area operating from 7 AM to 7 PM.
• Patient to nurse ratios of 1:4 to 1:5.
• On average, the department treats 40 to 100 patients per day, depending on the season.

Work Environment

• Behavioral health room available within the department.
• Security personnel present, availability may vary throughout the week.
• Respiratory therapy services may not be available at all times, nurses may need to set up ventilators if necessary.
• All nurses are responsible for reading their own telemetry strips from GE-Carescape monitors.

Shifts and Scheduling

• Manager assigns schedule with weekend and holiday requirements (every third weekend for day/mid-shift and every other night).
• Unit-specific orientation provided for all new staff.
• Floating to assist other units may be required on occasion.
