ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our multi-specialty nursing team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of ICU nursing experience and will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, providing care for diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), including monitoring and managing critically ill patients.
- Administer medications and perform necessary medical procedures, including the use of pressors and sedation drugs.
- Float to Intermediate Care (IMC) and Critical Care Step-Down (CSU) units as required per staffing needs.
- Assist in the management of various patient diagnoses such as MICU and SICU conditions, including post-operative care and cardiac emergencies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to formulate and implement effective care plans.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in compliance with facility policies.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain nursing competencies.
Work Schedule
This position requires a commitment to rotating shifts, including day and night schedules. The standard work hours are 3×12-hour shifts, primarily during the day, with occasional nights based on departmental needs. Availability for every other weekend and scheduled holidays is mandatory.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Management of Aggressive Behavior (CPI) certification.
- National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale certification.
- A minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience is required.
Patient Population
The ICU Registered Nurse will provide care to a diverse patient population, including adolescents (ages 15-17, when presenting adult-like conditions), adults, and geriatric patients. Common diagnoses in the ICU include surgical abdominals, neuro cervical spines, post-operative cases, cardiac medical issues, and various critical care conditions.
Special Equipment and Procedures
- Experience with ventilators, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), and pronation therapy is preferred.
- Familiarity with administering various pressors and sedation medications, including but not limited to Epinephrine, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Precedex, Clevidipine, Nicardipine, and Propofol.
