Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele

Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry with a focus on orthopedic care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in orthopedic nursing and demonstrate the capability to manage a fast-paced environment effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patient care on a 5-6:1 patient ratio, with the possibility of flexing to a maximum of 7:1 in exceptional circumstances.
• Provide comprehensive care to orthopedic, neuro spine, med-surg, and post-surgical patients.
• Administer IV therapy and monitor telemetry readings.
• Assist with pain management for orthopedic and spine patients.
• Float to other medical-surgical units to meet staffing needs as required.
• Participate in weekend rotations, with the expectation for coverage on alternate weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an orthopedic nursing setting.
• First-time travel nurses are welcome, provided they have experience with EPIC.
• Current BCLS and NIH certifications are required.
• Preferred certifications include ACLS and Charge Nurse Experience.
• Experience in a Level I trauma setting is also preferred.

Scheduling and Work Environment

The position offers 12-hour day shifts from 06:45 to 19:15, with the option of block scheduling available (e.g., Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday). A maximum of 7 days of RTO is permitted, and any holiday RTO requests cannot be approved.

Patient Care Details

The average daily census is approximately 37 patients, with facilities for 39 beds. All confirmed COVID-19 patients are integrated into the general units unless they require ICU care.

Pre-employment Requirements

All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.
