Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced Labor and Delivery unit. This position requires specialized knowledge and skills to provide optimal care for obstetrical patients. The role includes managing a high volume of births and ensuring safe and effective nursing practice in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care for obstetrical patients, including intrapartum and high-risk antepartum and postpartum care.
  • Manage a patient ratio of 2:1, averaging 20 births in 24 hours alongside 30-40 admissions and 40 visits per day.
  • Conduct sterile vaginal exams and provide immediate newborn care.
  • Utilize effective communication and documentation practices using SBAR and electronic medical records (EPIC).
  • Participate in special procedures and care for high-risk patients as needed.
  • Float between required units as necessary, supporting a team-focused environment during busy shifts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, with preference for 3 years.
  • Experience with a minimum of 300 births per month is essential.
  • Ability to handle double labor assignments effectively on a daily basis.
  • Certification in BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP is required.
  • First-time travelers are welcome, provided they have adequate experience in high-volume, similar settings.

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • Every other weekend is required, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for auto-offer considerations.

Unit Orientation

A comprehensive 24.0 hours orientation will be provided to familiarize you with unit protocols and systems.

Additional Information

The unit operates in a very high-paced environment, and nurses may find it challenging to manage a large patient load outside of structured contracts. Preference is given to RNs who have circulating experience in operating rooms.

Scrubs will be provided in standard blue color.
