ICU Neonatal Registered Nurse (RN)

Summary:

The competent Nurse in a clinical setting practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of each situation. This role involves providing both routine and complex care, with an ability to focus on long-range patient goals or plans. The Nurse continues to develop skills necessary for coping with and managing clinical contingencies, while effectively making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers for optimal patient management.

Responsibilities:

• Meet the expectations of applicable competencies as a Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care in alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying issues and available resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• At least 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification required from an approved course.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current NRP certification required.
• RN License in the state of TX or compact.

Position Requirements:

Education/Skills

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member, and initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organization entry competency validation and Perinatal Services-specific competency validation.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary.

Experience

• Completion of a Perinatal RN Residency, or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.

Work Schedule:

This position requires working nights from 7 PM to 7 AM.
