NICU Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview

The NICU Respiratory Therapist will provide specialized respiratory care to newborns in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This position requires a deep understanding of neonatal respiratory function and the ability to perform critical interventions with precision and care.

Schedule

• 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• 3 on-call shifts per 6-week schedule
• Night shift position

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor respiratory status of neonatal patients.
• Administer respiratory therapies and interventions tailored to the needs of infants.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Educate parents and caregivers about respiratory care for their newborns.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and assessments.

Qualifications

• Certified as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) or RRT license.
• Experience in a NICU setting is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations and respond effectively under pressure.

Requirements

• Ongoing education to maintain licensure and certifications.
• Participation in continuing education opportunities related to neonatal respiratory care.
• Mandatory participation in Rapid Response Team (RRT) duties as required.
