Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The position involves working primarily in a surgical department with some medical responsibilities as needed to accommodate patient care demands. The unit consists of 35 private patient rooms and two nursing stations, with designated patient care techs present on each shift. There is a shift supervisor available, and the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 during the night shift.

Work Schedule

• Agency scheduling typically every other weekend.
• Management is open to discussing holiday coverage requests.

Licenses and Certifications Required

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
• Current CPR/BLS Card
• ACLS Certification
• NRP Certification (as applicable)
• PALS Certification (as applicable)

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting is preferred.

Special Units & Skills

Experience or certifications in specialized areas such as the following are advantageous:

• Intensive Care Unit
• Progressive Care Unit
• Cardiac Services
• Emergency Room
• Recovery Room
• Pediatrics

Shift Information

• 12-hour shifts available.
• Holiday coverage is not required.
