Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview: Seeking a dedicated Float Pool Registered Nurse who is willing to work across multiple units, providing high-quality patient care in various Med/Surg Tele areas. The role requires flexible availability, including nights and weekends.

Unit Description:

The Float Pool RN will be responsible for providing care in various Med/Surg Telemetry units. The nurse will rotate through different units, ensuring efficient patient care across the following areas:

• Davenport 5
• Davenport 7
• Davenport 8
• Davenport 9
• Emergency Department (ED)
• PH6/7
• Pingree 4
• Overflow

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a traveling nurse is preferred.
• Active Registered Nurse licensure in Massachusetts.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Skills Required:

• Expertise in telemetry monitoring, including interpreting strips and measuring intervals every four hours.
• Experience with cardiac drips and TR Band procedures.
• Ability to perform essential nursing duties for diverse patient populations, including ED border patients and medication administration in an acute mental health unit.
• Comfortable caring for non-vented patients who are transfer ready from the ICU.

Patient Demographics:

The Float Pool RN will care for a diverse patient population, which includes patients from the Emergency Department and those in mental health crises, as well as providing care for transfer-ready patients from the Intensive Care Unit.

Work Environment:

• Clinician to Patient Ratio: Days and Evenings – up to 5:1; Nights – up to 6:1.
• Bed Count: 371 beds with unit census ranging from 8 to 41 beds.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: EPIC.

Rotation Schedule:

Expect rotations between day, evening, and night shifts, with 1 to 3 rotations to night shifts as part of the contract.
