ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic medical team. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment caring for critically ill adult patients in a Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).

Job Details

• Shifts: Nights with required weekends (EOW)
• Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Floating: Required; includes floating to Medical/Surgical units

Unit Description

The MICU is a 20-bed unit within a Level III Trauma Center, providing care for a diverse group of adult patients with conditions such as:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleeding
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Attending physicians and residents are present in the ICU 24/7.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous ICU experience; preferably in a MICU setting
• Telemetry competency is required, including the ability to read tele strips
• Active RN license in Massachusetts
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Patient Care

The RN will provide high-quality nursing care, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of:

• 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity patients
• 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg areas

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

The unit utilizes EPIC as the electronic charting system.
