Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

The Emergency Department (ED) Observation Unit is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves working in a 16-bed observation unit, caring for adult patients requiring close monitoring and assessment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
• Administer IV medications and perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Monitor patients using EKG and cardiac monitoring systems.
• Conduct point-of-care testing and manage splinting needs.
• Provide patient education and support critical thinking in care delivery.

Work Environment

The RN will work in a high-acuity environment with a typical clinician-to-patient ratio of 4:1 or 5:1, depending on unit needs. The position requires flexibility, as the nurse may float between the ED Observation Unit, Acute Medical Unit (AMU), and ED Behavioral Health areas.

Shift Details

This role entails rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and nights, with a commitment to work weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a dedicated location.
• At least 2 years of experience as a traveling nurse.
• Current AHA certifications: ACLS and PALS.
• Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Technology Skills

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, specifically Epic, Asap, and Clin doc, is required.
