Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Labor and Delivery to join our team. The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive knowledge and skills in both Labor & Delivery and Couplet Care to provide effective care for mothers and newborns. This role requires flexibility, critical thinking, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to obstetric patients in labor, delivery, and postpartum settings.
• Monitor fetal heart patterns and assess maternal health during labor and delivery.
• Assist with various clinical procedures, including sterile speculum exams, triage, and vaginal examinations.
• Administer medications and IV therapy, including anticoagulants and other appropriate medications.
• Support and educate new mothers on breastfeeding, postpartum care, and infant care.
• Circulate in the operating room for C-sections and assist with high-risk deliveries as needed.
• Conduct neonatal assessments, including APGAR scoring and management of newborn care protocols.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition home.
• Uphold infection control standards and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery with Couplet Care experience.
• Accepts 1st-time travelers with appropriate expertise.
• Proficient in using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment.
• Ability to work in a low-risk LDRP environment, while managing higher-risk patients as required.

Required Certifications

• AWHONN Beginner/Intermediate certification
• BCLS certification
• FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification
• AWHONN Advanced certification
• Experience in triage and risk assessment.

Work Schedule and Requirements

• Shift: Night shifts (12-hour) from 18:45 to 07:15
• Weekend shifts required, averaging 8 shifts per contract.
• Potential to float to different units; however, this will not be frequent.
• Call may be required during low census periods.

Unit Details

• Unit features 15 rooms and 17 beds, with three triage rooms.
• Focus on both Labor & Delivery and Couplet Care, emphasizing patient-centered practices.
• Special equipment includes all necessary tools for safe, effective patient care.

Orientation

Orientation consists of 24 hours, including hospital orientation and unit-specific training. Travelers must be available for classes each day during this period.

Scrubs

Scrubs will be provided in blue.

Interview Process

Candidates will need to provide interview availability for the next 72 hours to streamline the approval process. Interviews are necessary prior to any job offers being made.
