ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) for our Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in critical care nursing and be capable of providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population.

Unit Description

The MICU is a 20-bed unit within a Level III Trauma Center, caring for a wide range of adult patients with conditions including, but not limited to:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Attending physicians and residents are available in the ICU 24 hours a day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU.
• Monitor patient conditions and assess vital signs, including reading telemetry strips.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float to Medical/Surgical units as required, managing a patient load of up to 4-5 patients when needed.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using the EPIC EMR system.

Qualifications

• Current active Massachusetts RN License.
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience is required.
• Strong competency in telemetry and reading telemetry strips.
• Ability to work in a rotating shift environment, with night shifts being consistent.

Work Schedule

This position offers options for 36 or 48 hours per week, primarily on nights and every other weekend. Flexibility to float to other units as needed is essential.
