ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team in a Level III Trauma Center. The position requires a strong background in critical care nursing, particularly with adult patients facing a variety of complex conditions.

Position Overview

This position is for a full-time nurse working either 36 or 48 hours per week on night shifts and every other weekend. Responsibilities include floating to medical/surgical units as needed.

Unit Description

• 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU (MICU)
• Care for adult patients with conditions such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock.
• 24/7 presence of Attendings and Residents in the ICU.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, providing high-quality care and interventions as needed.
• Utilize telemetry skills to read and interpret cardiac rhythms.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and execute individualized patient care plans.
• Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner using the EMR system (EPIC).
• Assist in the training and orientation of new staff members and nursing students as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU nursing experience required.
• Active RN license in Massachusetts.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Telemetry competency is essential.
• Flexibility to float to medical/surgical units, with a patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 in high acuity scenarios, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floating.

Schedule

Rotating shifts are required; day rotators may work between 7 AM – 7 PM, 11 AM – 11 PM, or 7 PM – 7 AM as needed. Night shifts do not rotate.
