CVICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CVICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This position involves providing critical care to patients recovering from cardiac surgery and other complex cardiovascular conditions. You will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through exceptional nursing care.

Shift Information

• Schedule: 3×12 Night shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
• Rotating mid shifts (11a – 11p) based on unit needs
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the CVICU, including monitoring and managing hemodynamic stability.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including inotropic medications and CRRT.
• Float to the MSICU as necessary.
• Care for patients post-op for various cardiac procedures, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR.
• Manage complex patient diagnoses such as cardiogenic shock and STEMI/NSTEMI.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with healthcare professionals for optimal patient care.
• Respond to emergencies, including active management of open chest patients and ECMO services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience required; first-time travelers with CVICU experience will be considered.
• Current RN license in Maryland.
• BLS, ACLS, and CPI certifications required; NIH, OCN, and TCNN certifications preferred.
• Ability to work weekends (every third weekend required) and holidays as scheduled.

Patient Care Environment

• Average Daily Census: 3-5 patients
• Unit Capacity: 6 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Special focus on post-operative management and precision in patient care.
