Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position requires the ability to rotate between shifts and cover every other weekend (EOW). The RN will be responsible for providing care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units.
• Assist with labor management and postpartum recovery.
• Perform newborn care as required.
• Circulate and support surgeries within the unit.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Unit Information

This is a 25-Bed Labor & Delivery unit encompassing the following:

• Labor & Delivery rooms
• Postpartum rooms
• Newborn care areas
• Operating rooms
• Recovery rooms
• Additional nurse areas

Candidate Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care.
• Current Massachusetts RN License.
• Certifications required: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) every two years for L&D.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.

Clinical Environment

The clinician-to-patient ratio is as follows:

• Labor & Delivery: 1:2-3 for evaluations, 1:1 for active labor, and magnesium or epidural management.
• Postpartum: 1:3-4.
