Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Details

We are seeking a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract, with the possibility of extension. This position involves working three 12-hour night shifts, from 7 PM to 7 AM, including weekdays and some weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a stepdown unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including reading telemetry strips.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Establish IV access and manage IV therapy.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.

Patient Ratio

Typically, the patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4, with flexibility to 1:5 during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 1.5 to 2 years of nursing experience.
• At least 1 year of direct experience in medical-surgical/telemetry and 2 years in a stepdown unit.
• Ability to read telemetry strips.
• Certifications: BCLS and ACLS required.

Unit Information

The stepdown unit cares for patients who may also fall under progressive care or telemetry designations in larger facilities. The acuity levels will vary based on patient needs.

Additional Information

• Blocked weekend schedules will be considered (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday).
• Scrubs will not be provided; candidates should wear burgundy and/or white scrubs.
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system used: Cerner.
