Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/PCU/Tele

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Med Surg/PCU/Tele team on the 5N Neuro Trauma unit. The RN will provide essential care to patients with neurological and trauma-related conditions, ensuring they receive the highest level of support throughout their treatment.

Shift Information

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Timing: 1900 – 0730
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and holiday

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Beds: 28
• Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6, dependent on acuity
• Common Diagnoses: Neuro focus including strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, and trauma-related cases.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg, PCU, or ICU settings
• Must have recent experience in a clinical setting within the last year
• Experience in administering drip medications; extensive knowledge of titratable drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, and Insulin is required
• Comfort in working with patients requiring tracheostomy and ventilation care; willingness to learn is essential
• Highly preferred experience with home tracheostomy vents

Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients with neurological and trauma-related conditions
• Titrate IV drips as required
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care
• Document nursing interventions and patient outcomes effectively

Additional Information

• Self-scheduling available; manager will balance shifts
• Orientation will include one shift of general training and one shift with a preceptor
• Floating to sister units may be required, depending on staffing needs
• Dress code permits any solid color scrubs
