Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse to join our acute care team. This position requires a passion for patient care and a commitment to maintaining high standards within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job Details

• Unit Type: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year with at least 1 travel assignment
• Shift Times: 7 AM to 7 PM

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients within the medical-surgical unit.
• Monitor patient health and administer medications as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and implement patient care strategies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to established protocols and standards.
• Participate in patient education and support initiatives.
• Occasionally float to other acute care areas and cardiovascular units as needed.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications are required.
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5, possibly 1:6 for both days and nights.
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically Meditech, is preferred but not mandatory.
• Weekend and Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and holidays as needed.
• Staffing Ratio: Nurse Aides present with a typical ratio of 1:8, occasionally 1:10.

Orientation and Training

• General Orientation: 1 week, which includes EMR training.
• Floor-Specific Orientation: 2 days of tailored training to familiarize with unit protocols and procedures.
