Medical Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an adult outpatient clinic setting, particularly within endocrinology and internal medicine specialties. This position entails various clinical and administrative duties aimed at providing quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct vital sign assessments, including height/weight measurements, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, and performing pulse oximetry.
  • Prepare for patient exams by recording detailed medical histories, current medications, and allergies.
  • Assist in specimen collection, ensuring proper labeling and performing standard urine analysis (UA) and clean catch procedures.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including blood glucose checks using a glucometer and urinalysis via dipstick.
  • Handle office duties such as managing pharmacy calls and patient refill requests, as well as stocking supplies.
  • Demonstrate professional knowledge by employing aseptic techniques, making follow-up phone calls, and rooming patients effectively.
  • Engage in point of care testing and support additional clinical procedures as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required.
  • Experience with specific procedures such as immunizations and venipuncture is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems, specifically EPIC, and medication dispensing systems like Pyxis.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: Full-time position with 40 hours per week available, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Orientation: A comprehensive 8-hour orientation will be provided to familiarize the selected candidate with the clinic environment.
  • Attire: Navy blue scrubs are required, and the candidate must bring their own stethoscope.
  • No weekend or holiday shifts are required.

Patient Population

The clinical focus includes managing patient diagnoses related to diabetes, thyroid diseases, and adrenal diseases. Candidates should be adept in handling a diverse range of patient needs efficiently.
