ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in a dynamic and challenging environment. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care skills and the ability to manage complex patient cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the ICU setting.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and respond to changes in condition.
  • Titrate medications and manage intravenous (IV) drips including Levophed, propofol, cardizem, esmolol, and insulin.
  • Float to Medical-Surgical Telemetry units as necessary, maintaining appropriate patient ratios.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Utilize advanced medical equipment and technology, including ventilators, Cpap, Bipap, and heated high-flow oxygen.
  • Perform and document necessary assessments, interventions, and patient education.
  • Participate in unit orientations and training sessions for new staff or nurses.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an intensive care unit (ICU) setting.
  • Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Experience in Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 facilities is preferred.
  • Ability to work with limited resources and effectively troubleshoot equipment.
  • Willingness to float to Med-Surg areas and adapt to varying patient needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Schedule

This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including:

  • 12-hour shifts with a rotating day/night schedule.
  • Weekend rotations every other weekend (EOW) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Holiday coverage, with a requirement to work 2 out of 3 holidays.

Orientation and Training

New hires will participate in a structured orientation program including:

  • An initial 8-hour computer education session on the first day.
  • 4 hours of shadowing on the first day, followed by a 12-hour shift of orientation on the second day.
  • On-the-job training and independent practice from day three onwards.
