Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pediatrics

Overview

We are seeking a qualified Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric experience for a busy pediatric hospital. This position requires a dedicated professional to provide respiratory care in various settings, including the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Assignment Details

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: 13 weeks with the possibility of extension
  • Shift: Night shifts, 3×12-Hour (19:00 – 07:00)
  • Floating required to sister facilities
  • Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
  • One holiday required
  • Minimal to no Request Time Off (RTO)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care to pediatric patients, including managing ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
  • Assess patients’ respiratory status and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Participate in triage and manage care in high-pressure environments such as the ED and ICU.
  • Assist in the care of critically ill patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Required Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with proof of certification.
  • Valid GA Respiratory Care Professional license is required.
  • Completion of a relevant diploma or associate’s degree program with RRT credentials.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent RRT experience, particularly in pediatrics.
  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience is required.
  • Recent travel experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPIC charting is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following equipment is required: V-60, Servo-i, Drager, Hamilton T-1, Vapotherm, Optiflow.

Skills

  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in respiratory therapy.
  • Ability to participate effectively in triage situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork capabilities.
