Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) with robust clinical experience to join our dedicated nursing team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, delivering quality healthcare while adapting to varying patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Monitor vital signs and perform assessments for assigned patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Ensure effective communication with patients and their families regarding care and treatment plans.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in emergency situations and manage care during catastrophes as required.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Medical-Surgical / Telemetry.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Charge nurse experience preferred.

Contract Details

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15).
  • Contract lengths of 36-48 hours per week accepted; longer contracts of 13-26 weeks are available.
  • Floating may be required as needed.
  • Every other weekend availability is mandatory.
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:5-6.
  • No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) will be accepted.

Unit and Orientation Details

  • 24-hour unit orientation program provided.
  • Must attend hospital orientation during the first week and be available for daily classes.
  • Unit systems include Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR for medication management, documentation, and communication.
  • The unit also has an isolation area for COVID patients and provides multi-level care, including stepdown services.

Additional Notes

  • All contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and must be prepared to work during emergencies.
  • EKG testing must be successfully completed prior to the start date for this specialty.
  • Scrub color required: Navy.
