PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-level nursing care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, ensuring their safety and comfort following surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures across various specialties including ICU, MRI, Oncology, and Interventional Radiology.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and manage post-operative pain relief.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient status and care plans.
• Utilize EPIC charting for accurate documentation of patient care.
• Participate in patient assessments and provide education on post-operative care.
• Float to the Day Unit as necessary to care for phase two patients.

Qualifications

• Active RN License in North Dakota or Compact RN License.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU experience is required.
• Experience working with pediatric patients is essential.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS (all from AHA).
• Must have experience with EPIC electronic health records.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.

Shift Details

• 12-hour day shifts with start times between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM.
• Opportunity to work either 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Call required: Approximately 3-5 weeknights and 1-2 weekends within a six-week period.

Unit Information

• 16-bay Phase I PACU environment.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 or 2:1.
• Utilization of AcuDose Medication Dispensing and Phillips monitors.
