Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Overview
The Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care for patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. This position requires the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while ensuring a high standard of clinical practice in a telemetry setting.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
- Contracts of 36 or 48 hours accepted
- Longer contracts available through 2/27/2027
- Every other weekend required
- No call required
- Maximum of 7 days of RTO (Requested Time Off) per contract
- Holidays must be worked
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a telemetry and medical-surgical setting.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using telemetry devices.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Perform assessments and recognize changes in patient conditions.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation using electronic health records.
- Participate in patient and family education regarding care and treatments.
- Work collaboratively during high-stress situations such as storms or hurricanes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Current BLS and NIHSS certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a medical-surgical or telemetry setting.
- Charge nurse experience preferred.
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Strong knowledge of nursing care procedures including but not limited to central line management, IV therapy, and wound care.
- Ability to float to other medical-surgical units as needed.

- Dementia
- COVID-19
- Pneumonia
- COPD
- Sepsis
- Encephalopathy
- GI bleed
- Anemia
- Hip fracture
- CHF
- UTI
- Various surgical recoveries
- Renal failure
- Hypertension
- Cellulitis
- Failure to thrive
Unit Systems
The following systems and tools will be utilized:
- Pyxis for medication management
- EPIC for documentation
- SBAR for communication
Orientation and Dress Code
- Unit orientation: 24 hours.
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white.
Additional Notes
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
- Must be able to work during catastrophic events and mass casualty situations.
