Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dialysis Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute hemodialysis and be prepared to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Shift Details
- Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts from 0645 to 1915 (36 hours per week)
- Every other weekend required
- On-call duties as assigned, particularly on Sundays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- Monitor patient progress, assess vital signs, and document care using EPIC Dimensions and Pyxis systems.
- Float between departments as needed, assisting with support tasks when dialysis patient assignments are not available.
- Participate in emergency response as part of the Storm Team or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events.
Qualifications
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
- CDN or CNN certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute hemodialysis experience required; first-time travelers are welcome.
- Experience with Fresenius and Baxter equipment is essential.
Patient Demographics
Work with patients diagnosed with a variety of conditions, including:
- End-stage renal disease on dialysis
- Chronic kidney disease progressing to hemodialysis
- Acute kidney injury
- Peritoneal dialysis complications
- Transplant rejection requiring hemodialysis
Unit Specifics
- Acute Hemodialysis Unit with 9 stations and an isolation station.
- 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio for ICU/PCU and bedside treatments.
- Utilize patient transport services as needed for patient management.
Orientation and Training
A comprehensive orientation program will consist of 24 hours of training, including:
- 12 hours of ICU/offsite training
- 12 hours of dialysis room and peritoneal dialysis training
Attire
Scrubs will be provided for staff members.
Note
Contract staff members may be required to report to work during emergency situations or disasters.
