Clinical Nurse

We are seeking a competent Clinical Nurse to provide exceptional clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse will coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Essential Duties

• Education:
  • Participate in identifying and meeting personal learning needs.
  • Attend education programs based on identified learning needs.
  • Utilize patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
  • Assess the readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Evaluate the developmental level of patients and factors affecting their ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care:
  • Identify expected patient outcomes.
  • Seek guidance as needed in revising the plan of care.
  • Engage in discussions with the interdisciplinary team regarding the evaluation of patient care.
  • Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation:
  • Demonstrate competence in the care of patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
  • Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required for the patient care plan.
  • Utilize organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in delivering care.
  • Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
  • Consult with appropriate resources regarding complex care issues promptly.
• Leadership:
  • Develop goals for professional growth with assistance.
  • Achieve goals within identified time frames or renegotiate with a supervisor.
  • Be knowledgeable about activities that facilitate intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Participate in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
  • Effectively use communication systems and promote cost-effective care.
  • Provide constructive feedback to co-workers.
  • Stay informed of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Patient Assessment:
  • Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care.
  • Include appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs in assessments.
  • Synthesize assessment data into a coherent whole for communication to others.
  • Assess and anticipate discharge needs for individual patients and families.
  • Develop relationships with families to enhance their advocacy for patients and their own needs.
• Planning:
  • Collaborate with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care.
  • Utilize available multidisciplinary resources in the planning of care.
  • Employ a full range of communication methods in conveying planning information.
  • Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively for patients with complex problems.
• Research:
  • Read relevant journals containing studies or articles applicable to practice.
  • Bring ideas and questions to the team for collective assessment.

Required Skills & Experience

• One (1) year of nursing experience.
• Oncology experience is required.
• Outpatient experience is required.

Education

• Required: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
