Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide high-quality nursing care in a professional and compassionate manner within a clinical setting. This role involves a range of responsibilities, including delivering routine and complex patient care, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and actively participating in the nursing process from assessment to evaluation.

Shift

Days – 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care that aligns with the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments following established protocols while monitoring patients for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education for patients, family members, and caregivers.
• Meet expectations of applicable clinical competencies, including leadership roles within the nursing team.

Patient Cases

• Deliveries
• Circulating C-sections
• Antepartum patients
• Initial newborn assessments

Nurse/Patient Ratios

• 1:1 on Pitocin for induction or augmentation
• 1:2 for cervical ripening (Cytotec or low dose Pitocin)
• 1:2-3 for antepartum patients (dependent on acuity)
• 1:2-3 for triage cases
• 1:1 for immediate postpartum (2 hours post-birth for mother and baby)

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment or possess a compact RN license.
• BLS certification is required.
• Current certifications from one of the following required: AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
• Current NRP certification is required.
• Current ACLS certification is mandatory.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
• Completion of New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire is required for newly hired experienced RNs.
• Preceptorship by a designated trained staff member and completion of all initial onboarding competency validations are mandatory.
• Prior experience in a perinatal setting is highly preferred.

Dress Code

Employees are required to wear navy blue or pink scrubs.

Additional Requirements

• Weekend shifts are required.
• No floating between units or locations.
